Maruti Suzuki NEXA has launched their first 6 seater crossover MPV XL6, which is similar but also dissimilar to Ertiga at the same time. As XL6 comes under the NEXA Experience whice makes it premium iteration of the two.
It is offered in two trims- Zeta and Alpha- with manual and automatic gearbox options that make it four variants in total. In terms of size, the XL6 is longer by 50mm, wider by 40mm and taller by 10mm than the Ertiga.
Based on the same 5th gen Heartect platform as the Ertiga, both models have the same wheelbase (2740mm) and boot space (209 litres). Maruti Suzuki XL6 comes with fully revamped front end completely differentiating it from the Ertiga, the front grill gets hexagonal patters and between them their is thick chrome garnish which connects DRLs of the headlights. speaking of headlights the XL6 gets quad LED head lamps along with LED fog lamps.
At the rear, the XL6 shares design cues from the Ertiga like its tail lamp design. But they are LEDs. The other differentiating factor at the rear is the black-cladding with silver inserts which looks like skid plates giving it SUV like finish. The silver insert is also featured in the roof rails. The boot space of XL6 is 209L with all 3 rows up expandable upto 803L with 2nd row down.
Step inside, and you see the dashboard layout of the XL6 remains similar to the Ertiga. However, the black-beige colour combo has been replaced with a sportier all-black theme with faux dark wood slab. The main highlight of the MPV is in the middle row where it gets 2 captin seats with individual arm rests and prominent side bolstering.
Travelling with 6 passengers also requires a host of safety features that include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control, rear parking sensors and camera, ISOFIX mounts in the second row, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder and high speed alert. Automatic variants also get Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
It is offered in six colour options – Nexa Blue, Pearl Arctic White, Pearl Brave Khaki, Prime Auburn Red, Metallic Magma Grey and Metallic Premium Silver. It will rival the likes of the Mahindra Marazzo and the Renault Lodgy in the Indian market.
